10 Commandments

The commandments are structurally divided into two main categories:
The First Four Commandments dictate the vertical relationship between humanity and God, focusing on monotheism, idolatry, honoring God’s name, and keeping the Sabbath.
The Last Six Commandments govern horizontal human relationships, dealing with societal and familial obligations, civil justice, property rights, and personal intent..

  • I am the Lord your God… …You shall have no other gods before me.

  • You shall not make for yourself an image… …You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God…

  • You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God

  • Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God.

  • Honor your father and your mother
    ,
so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

  • You shall not murder.

  • You shall not commit adultery.

  • You shall not steal.

  • You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

  • You shall not covet
    your neighbor’s house.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Seven Sacraments

The Catholic Church recognizes seven Sacraments, which are divided into three distinct groups:
Three Sacraments of Christian Initiation, Two Sacraments of Healing, Two Sacraments at the Service of Communion (Vocation)

  • Baptism: The foundational sacrament that cleanses from original sin, incorporates a person into the Church, and marks the beginning of their new life in Christ.

  • Confirmation: The sacrament that completes baptismal grace by sealing the believer with the gifts of the Holy Spirit to strengthen them for their Christian mission.

  • Eucharist: The source and summit of Christian life, where Catholics receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ during the Mass.

  • Penance (Reconciliation): The sacrament through which sins committed after Baptism are confessed and forgiven, restoring the believer’s relationship with God and the community.

  • Anointing of the Sick: The sacrament administered to those who are seriously ill, elderly, or facing major surgery, offering spiritual comfort, peace, and sometimes physical healing.

  • Holy Orders: The sacrament through which men are ordained as bishops, priests, or deacons to serve and shepherd the Church community.

  • Matrimony: The sacred covenant and lifelong union established between a man and a woman, reflecting the love between Christ and His Church.
